  2. A quasar's luminosity is roughly 2 trillion times that of our sun.
  3. The brightest known quasars devour 1000 solar masses of material every year.
  4. The largest known quasar uses up matter equivalent to 600 Earths per hour.
  5. Quasars last about 10 billion years.
  6. Quasars show elements heavier than helium indicating that they underwent a massive phase of star formation.
  7. The first quasar was discovered in 1960.
