- The latin name ananas comosus means tufted pine
- The fruitlets of a pineapple are arranged in two interlocking spirals, eight spirals in one direction, thirteen in the other; each being a Fibonacci number.
- The natural (or most common) pollinator of the pineapple is the hummingbird.
- Pineapples should also not be consumed by those with Hemophilia or by those with kidney or liver disease, as it may reduce the time taken to coagulate a consumer's blood.
- Pineapples, like bananas, are chill-sensitive. Therefore, they should not be stored in the refrigerator.
- SpongeBob SquarePants lives in a pineapple under the sea.
- Certain bat-pollinated wild pineapples, do the exact opposite of most flowers by opening their flowers at night and closing them during the day.

- In 1766 BC the Emperor Cheng Tang apparently had a flying craft built.
- The Babylonian "Epic of Etana." describes a prehistoric flight in a cuneiform fragment dating back to a period between 3,000 and 2,400 B.C.
- In the 3rd century BC the Chinese poet Chu Yun made a detailed aerial survey of the Gobi desert. He praised the durability of his craft.
- Written records of oral traditions from Nepal mention powered flight. The secrets were known only to the Yavanas.
- The sacred Hindu book, the Samaranga Sutradhara, contains over 200 hundred stanzas concerning almost every aspect of flying.
- The Columbian 'plane': Considered to be well over a thousand years old, is a small gold model 'aircraft' identical in design to a modern jet.
- The Indian sacred scriptures The Vimana's make numerous references to flight.
