  1. Also known as Reynolds wrap after Reynolds Metals, the leading manufacturer in North America
  2. To maintain a constant thickness in aluminium foil production, beta radiation is passed through the foil to a sensor the other side.
  3. The first aluminium foil rolling plant was opened in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland in 1910
  4. Aluminium foils thicker than 0.025 mm are impermeable to oxygen and water
  5. A simple and inexpensive way to remove rust from and polish steel surfaces by hand is to rub it with aluminium foil dipped in water
  6. Most Aluminium foil products can be recycled at around 5% of the original energy cost
  7. In round figures it takes 4 tonnes of bauxite to make 2 tonnes of alumina, which makes 1 tonne of aluminium.
